The club has its origins in the 1920s as part of a land project called Laurel Park Estates. Building on the development stopped in the early 1930s because of the Great Depression. The city of Hendersonville took over ownership. The first nine holes of the course opened in 1933, and the second nine followed soon after. In 1945 the members bought the club back from the city.
