About the club
This wonderful course came about as a consequence of a sad mishap. The site had been a farm, but while owner Scilla Hokholt was away on vacation in 1988 the barn caught fire and her herd of over five hundred cattle perished. Unable to bear the thought of returning to farming, Hokholt decided to try something completely different and transformed Fritzoe Farm into Larvik Golf Club. Architect Jan Sederholm was brought in from Sweden, and his course debuted in 1994. Measuring 6295 meters off the tips, the layout is a little on the short side, but it is well balanced and offers some real challenges, and there are nevertheless some thrilling shots to be made by long hitters. The fairways aren't overly narrow, and the routing proceeds through half a dozen each of par 3s, par 4s and par 5s. Larvik attracted the SAS Invitational just a few years after opening its doors.
