Scioto Country Club
About the club
The Donald Ross design at Scioto was the site of three prominent tournaments—the 1926 U.S. Open, won by Bobby Jones, the 1931 Ryder Cup and the 1950 PGA Championship. That course was gone by the time the ’68 U.S. Amateur came to Scioto, replaced in 1963 by a modern design from Dick Wilson, who delegated one nine to associate Joe Lee and the other to associate Robert von Hagge. Several other renovations by Michael Hurdzan and Jack Nicklaus, who grew up playing the course, followed in the 2000s, creating yet a third iteration of the course. Enough, the club said. They hired Andrew Green in 2021 to restore the course to the full Donald Ross version based on drawings, photos and an old aerial illustration from the '26 Open. Green lowered green complexes, emboldened contours, recreated Ross’ sharp-faced bunkering and returned the small green at the par-3 17th to the near side of a creek where it originally was.

Scioto Country club is not just great, it's outstanding. The golf course is impeccably maintained with challenging yet fair layout, pristine fairways, and fast greens. Staff are friendly and attentive, facilities top-notch including clubhouse and dining. Highly recommend for a premium experience - 5-Star experience.

I recently visited Scitot Country Club as a vendor for a wedding, and I was impressed. The staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating, making the experience smooth and enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for a special event. The club itself is beautiful with stunning grounds that offer great photo opportunities. Even as a vendor, I could see that this is a great venue for weddings or any elegant gathering.

This is a beautiful country club. I went here for an event and was satisfied with my experience. My event was in the clubhouse’s event room, and it had free breakfast catered by the country club that consisted of bacon, scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, water, and lemonade, all of which were quite good. The event room was quite large and had plenty of Roundtable seating along with a beautiful view of the golf course and an outdoor patio that’s open during warm weather. This clubhouse has beautiful wood furnishings and embellishments in its hallway and doorframes, along with several photos of past golf tournaments held here. There’s a restaurant which looked quite nice, as well as a golf store. In addition to that, there are several beautiful paintings throughout the building. This country club’s also has tennis courts, a pool, and an indoor golf simulator, but I didn’t see any of those amenities. After my event I left, satisfied with my experience. I gave this country club five stars because it has a beautiful clubhouse and is a good venue for professional events.
