Beacon Hall Golf Club
About the club
Situated within the gates of a private community just outside of Toronto, and with just a couple hundred members, Beacon Hall is quite an exclusive club. Architect Bob Cupp positioned his front nine down along a ridge leading into dense trees, and made excellent use of these surroundings to create some very distinctive holes, including a sloping par 4 2nd and a 9th that places great demands off the tee. Beginning from the 10th, the course rather suddenly develops the feel of a links, and it is here that the more challenging holes are to be found, such as the par 3 16th, the 223 yards of which lead up the mountainside to a demanding green, and the par 4 18th, which heads uphill to the clubhouse. The last few putts are reached by a fairly steep climb, but players will be distracted by the exquisite layout and natural beauty.
