Mississaugua Golf and Country Club
About the club
The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club has been one of the most exclusive clubs in Canada for over a century. A number of designers have had a hand in shaping the course, among them Stanley Thompson and Donald Ross. Subsequent renovations created a kind of disconnected feel, but more recently, in 2008, Doug Carrick refurbished all the greens and recaptured the glory of the early architects. Most of the holes thread their way along the Credit River, beginning with the par 4 2nd, which extends over 412 downsloping yards. The other holes continue to make excellent use of the open area along the river valley, in particular the 12th, called the Big Chief, where the legendary Jack Nicklaus famously failed to reach the raised green on his second shot and ended up with a bogey that cost him his chance to clinch the 1965 Canadian Open.
