About the club

The Westmount, located within the city of Kitchener, an hour or so outside of Toronto, may find itself overshadowed by some of Stanley Thompson's other designs, in particular the St. Georges and the Highlands, but it still makes excellent use of a spectacular setting amid stately groves, and it has repeatedly been ranked among Canada's top twenty courses. The rippling ground, which creates numerous dips and bumps along the fairways, demands careful strategizing from players. Of particular note here are the par 4 15th, which features a sharply sloping fairway leading to a green that has been notched into a hillside, and the par 4 16th, whose 447 yards also culminate in an especially punishing green. These kinds of challenges have attracted a number of top venues to the Westmount, such as the 1957 Canadian Open, the 1969 Canadian Amateur Championship and the 1991 Canadian Women's Open.
