The Els Club Vilamoura

About the club

The Els Club Vilamoura is the first private members’ golf club in the Algarve and the very first Ernie Els Club in Europe, managed by DETAILS. Set across 90 hectares in Europe’s sunniest region, the club combines exclusivity, tradition, and refined service, with only a limited number of tee times available for select visitors. Members and guests enjoy one of the most complete golf complexes in Europe, featuring an outstanding driving range and a 2,500 m² putting green, all in the tranquil landscapes of Vilamoura. This sense of prestige is underlined by the club’s championship pedigree, having hosted the Portugal Masters since 2007 and set to stage the Portugal Invitational, a Champions Tour event, from 2026. The par-72 championship layout, stretching 6,651 meters from the back tees, reflects Ernie Els’ vision of creating a course that is both challenging and harmonious with nature. Natural wetlands and indigenous carob, olive, and almond trees frame the holes, while a series of lakes serve as both strategic hazards and vital irrigation reservoirs. Multiple teeing options and wide, undulating fairways make the course accessible, yet the clever placement of bunkers and water ensures a demanding and authentic test. This balance of quality, tradition, and exclusivity defines the unique experience of The Els Club Vilamoura.
