Muskoka Bay Club
About the club
This course is one of a number in the Muskoka recreation area, two hours outside Toronto. Doug Carrick crafted the layout on some rugged terrain, and the result is a highly scenic backdrop to holes that will challenge any golfer. In contrast with Bigwin Island, the other course Carrick built in the north of Ontario, the natural stone is a major factor at Muskoka Bay, and it can make for some dicey play. Things get interesting right from the start with a breathtaking tee shot off the par-4 1st, and the excitement never lets up. The outstanding holes make use of the eccentricities of the ground, a fine example being the 9th, with a tee-off on a hilltop leading to a partially obstructed path to a green that is broad but shallow. The final two holes are superb, in particular the par 3 17th, which tees off over a water hazard.
