Restigouche Salmon Club
About the club
Widely regarded as the most exclusive private club in North America — not just fishing. Founded in 1880 by a group of American Gilded Age industrialists including William Vanderbilt, the club controls some of the finest Atlantic salmon pools on the Restigouche River on the Quebec-New Brunswick border. Membership is effectively hereditary and has a waiting list measured in decades. Initiation is rumored to exceed $1 million. Members have included Presidents, Prime Ministers, and the heads of America's oldest dynasties.
