Indian Wells Golf Course
About the club
Indian Wells Golf Club’s course is known as a “shotmaker’s” course, where you’ll probably need to use every club in your bag. Renowned architect Gene Hamm styled this 18-hole, par 72, Myrtle Beach golf course, with its undulating TifEagle Bermuda terrain, after traditional U. S. Open courses. Bunkers played a big part in shaping the contours of the greens, and tree lining shaped the holes. Plan to have a lot of fun but wear your thinking cap while facing down big oak trees in odd places, doglegs and water hazards – 14 water features total. But even “average” golfers have a strong shot at scoring well. You might feel challenged, but you’ll enjoy the experience. General Manager Joe Dipre wants the average golfer to feel confident about playing a good game of golf. “It’s a fair course for the average player,” he emphasizes. “It’s not a course where you need to be a big bomber and hit the ball far,” he says. “But because the course is tree lined, if you’re hitting the ball left and right, you could struggle a little bit. ”Instead, some strategic planning will get you where you need to be. Because of the doglegs and some of the water, you’ll want to strategize where you want to land the ball in order to position yourself well for the next shot.
