The Dunes Golf & Beach Club
About the club
Its oceanside dunes are mostly covered with turfgrass and mature trees now, but when Robert Trent Jones built The Dunes back in the late 1940s, the property was primarily windswept sand dotted with lagoons. Those lakes come in prominently on many holes, particularly on the 11th through 13th, dubbed Alligator Alley. (The boomerang-shaped par-5 13th is called Waterloo.) The home hole, with a pond in front of the green, started as a gambling par 5 but today is a daunting par 4. The course has hosted three USGA championships, including the 1962 U.S. Women's Open and, most recently, the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball. The Dunes Golf and Beach Club has hosted the PGA Tour's Myrtle Beach Classic for the past two years.

We golf at a lot of these courses in and around Myrtle, but always are impressed with the Dunes. It's well kept and the staff is the best. I highly recommend the Dunes if you're planning to visit the area.

I was fortunate to be invited back to The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, and it reminded me just how timeless and special this course is. I played it years ago, but coming back now, I was struck by how well it has held up. Classic, intentional, and incredibly refined. Every hole is clearly defined by bunkering and mature tree lines, creating straightforward tee shots that reward good positioning. In my opinion, this is a true second-shot golf course. The green complexes are large, multi-tiered, and demanding in the best way. The greens were firm and rolled fast and true, as good as any I’ve ever played. Myrtle Beach has no shortage of great golf, but The Dunes stands apart. The conditions, design, and overall experience feel like a private club at the very top tier. This is a special place and a reminder of how great golf architecture never goes out of style.

Can't say enough about this place! From The moment you go through the entrance The hospitality from the staffing and members were spectacular! needless to say, the core speaks for itself now that it is an annual PGA event! The the greens were rolling fast impressively considering there had been significant amount of rain the previous few days. Holes 11-13 were an absolute treat, especially 13, which is certainly one of my favorite risk reward par fives I've ever played. Can't Wait to come back in the warmer months and repeat! Anyone who gets an invite don't miss it
