About the club
Designer Miyajawa Shohei worked some Japanese motifs into the initial layout that was created in the late Sixties. One such motif was a double green system that served to keep the turf fresh and created opportunities for alternative approaches to the cup. A second was planting non-native flora and trees, in particular the cherry trees in which the club prides itself. Robert Trent Jones was brought in to rework the course, in particular the greens and the bunkers. The fairways have gentle shifts in topography, and make their way through genuine parkland, unusual for Korean courses, as is the presence of an on-site driving range. A special strain of grass has been developed by the club that seems to be perfect for the environment here. The custom on this walking-only course is for a single caddy to serve two players using an electric cart.
