Black Stone Golf Resort at Jeju
About the club
North/South The enchanting isle of Jeju, formed by volcanoes and renowned for its do hareubangs, "rock elders," has been since 2005 home to the Black Stone Golf and Resort complex, which features three nines. JMP Golf Design Group partner Brian Costello created the layout, and he made the most of the natural flora, the outcrops of lava known as "orum" and a number of winding creeks, as well as the panoramic vistas of South Korea's highest mountain, Halla, and the Yellow Sea beyond. The North+South combination is private, and offers a variety of enjoyable holes, in particular a selection of unique par 3s, including one where the green is fronted by a stunning water hazard, another where contoured bunkers crouch around half the green and another with raised tees that overlook lush vegetation. The large clubhouse features a welcoming and skilled staff, and the upkeep throughout is superb.
