About the club
Maple and Pine Jack Nicklaus designed three nines for Gapyeong Benest that have been open for play since 2000. Each nine is named for the kind of tree that is dominant on that part of the layout, and while the Maple+Pine combination is probably the best, fun can be had with various combinations of holes. The terrain is hilly, being at an elevation of more than a thousand feet. The fairways throughout are generous and relatively level, and set with extended bunkering, so precision drives are at a premium; it takes precision as well to breach the defenses of the contoured greens. The 450-yard, par 4 3rd on the Birch is the signature hole; it plays downhill with a slope on one side and water on the other and an extended bunker about halfway along the fairway. The spacious clubhouse features locker rooms where players can relax in a bath while looking out on the course.
