About the club

The Royal Spanish Golf Federation’s National Centre, known in Spanish as Centro Nacional de la Real Federacion Española de Golf, is located 10km away from the center of Madrid. It is a pay and play 18-hole golf course, which is easily accessible. Opened in 2005, the course has hosted prestigious European Tour events such as the 2009 Madrid Masters, the 2007 Spanish Open and the 2006 Challenge of Spain. The golf course was designed by Dave Thomas, architect of The Belfry, Abama and Terre Blanche among others, Jorge Soler-Peix and the Green Project team. The National Golf Centre is a long and challenging course that is reminiscent of a typical British links, and provides a stern test for all levels. The new family tee boxes help to shorten the course making it playable for beginners and seniors. Seve Ballesteros played an instrumental role in helping in the creation of the National Golf Centre, and commented, “It's been 15 years, but the project is finally a reality for Spanish golf. Most importantly it is a golf course of public character, and this fills me with satisfaction, because it's something I've always fought throughout my life. With this project, we all win.” The facility offers a new scenario to the World of Golf Industry: a long and surprising course (6622 meters – 7244 yards) which makes you feel like playing on a links course due to the aesthetics and the gentle breeze. The course is situated over a small hill and has very few trees. At first sight, the course might seem easy however once the wind starts blowing the ponds and bunkers will seem larger than ever. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation’s National Centre has opted for a sustainable activity with maximum respect for the environment and water management. The practice facilities have been recently remodeled and the Center of Excellence was built with the idea of pampering the very best players in Spain.
