Golf Platja de Pals
About the club
Located in the middle of the property Arenals de Mar, on dunes covered by a huge pine forest planted seventy years ago, Golf Platja de Pals was designed in the early sixties by Mr. Baltasar Parera Vilar and his wife Rosa Coll Llach. They provided the necessary land, built the first 9 holes and the clubhouse, and provided all the necessary equipment for its maintenance. Although in its February 1961 issue, the magazine Destino published the first details of the future golf course, the work did not begin until 1964, based on the project and under the direction of the English architect Mr. Fred Hawtree, who from the beginning followed to the letter the wishes of the Parera Coll family. The developers' respect for nature was so strict that it was not possible to cut a single pine tree from the property, unless they personally marked it beforehand. So, in the summer of 1966, the first 9 holes of the first golf course on the Costa Brava were inaugurated, and in 1968, the expansion from 9 to 18 holes began. The course was inaugurated in 1970 during the "International Amateur Championship of Spain". Two years later, the Platja de Pals Golf Club hosted the "Spanish Open 1972". Thanks to its design and perfect execution, it has been considered one of the best golf courses in Spain since that time and has hosted numerous international competitions.
