La Cala ups the stakes on Mijas by now boasting three excellent layouts, American (formely the North), South and the recently opened Campo Europa, and consequently being the largest golf resort on the Costa del Sol. All three were designed by Cabell Robinson, a protégé of Robert Trent Jones and the original pair of courses feature many large, elevated greens, which means that your approach and iron play has to be in good shape, and there are several water hazards, so your long game also has to be straight. \\ The Campo Europa is more user-friendly, with generous fairways and greens, offering a larger target, and it’s arguably more attractive, making excellent use of the Ojen River, which is used as a subtle hazard on the eight holes at which it features. Spain’s only David Leadbetter Golf Academy is on site if you need help and the practice facilities are excellent. \\ La Cala Resort boasts three 18-hole championship courses designed by the renowned Cabell Robinson, a star pupil of the legendary Robert Trent Jones. It also has a top quality six-hole par 3 layout that is attached to the only David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Spain. With a five-star hotel and properties to rent, the visiting player or group need never leave the resort to enjoy a varied and thoroughly enjoyable golfing experience. \\ A round of golf in any of the La Cala courses is an unforgettable experience.
