About the club
Kristianstad Golf Club has a long history. Established in 1924, the club moved to its current location in 1942, where the initial nine was not increased to a complete eighteen, the Ostra (East) Course, until 1969, the work being done by designers Tommy Nordstrom and Douglas Braiser. Another nine holes were added in 1978 and extended to eighteen in 2006 to form the Vastra (West) Course. The site is wonderful, gently rolling and rough with heather; only the ocean is lacking to make for a links (though there is certainly enough wind). The tight fairways are nicely balanced with diminutive greens. Kristianstad has its equivalent to Augusta's Amen Corner, the 14th through the 16th, which happens to be the only stretch with water hazards. So grip low on the shaft and hit close to the ground when the gusts come off the Baltic and you'll be able to make the well-defended greens.
