Eagle Rock Golf Club
About the club
The 18-hole course was designed by Bill Schober and built in 1987. The original name of the course was The Summit, to emphasize the hill behind the clubhouse. Stories are Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, of Bonnie and Clyde fame, used to sit on top of the hill to watch for police cars being driven along the nearby country roads. Of course, this was before Interstate 45 was built. The founding group of the golf course continued operations through the 1990s. The Summit was then purchased by an individual in East Texas and operated through mid-2004. Rocky Carlson took over The Summit in June, 2004 and changed the name to Eagle Rock Golf Club, a DBA of Rocky's corporation, Rocky Carlson Enterprises, Inc. After two years of operations, Rocky and friend Gio Manettas formed their corporation, Giorock Inc. , to own and operate the course. The DBA "Eagle Rock Golf Club" was transferred to the new company.
