Ladybank Golf Club
About the club
Pioneering architect Old Tom Morris created the original six holes at Ladybank in Fife shorty after the club was established in 1879; three more holes were added thirty years later, but it was not until 1961 that a full eighteen was completed. Ladybank is a rare inland course in the land of links, and is none the worse for it. The location is fairly level, a stretch of land covered with sand, evergreens and heather, all of which are lovely but also stand ready to snare the errant ball. Indeed, the trees on the grounds, of which there are many varieties, are in play throughout. At well under 6000 meters from the tips, better golfers will not find long shots very challenging, but precision and strategy are required to get down the fairways with a good approach to the greens. Since 1978, Ladybank has hosted seven qualifying rounds for the Open Championship.
