Leven Links Golf Club
About the club
On the other side of County Fife from St. Andrews are the villages of Leven and Lundin, which are close together and in the mid-nineteenth century shared a primordial golf course. The railroad eventually came through and divided this early eighteen so that Leven and Lundin each had its own nine, and both eventually created more holes for its own full eighteen. Leven's layout takes full advantage of the coast and is almost entirely a links experience, but for a couple of inland holes. Though the shore is somewhat protected, the breezes off the Firth of Forth are still usually in play. The very best players may lament the lack of length, but the vast majority will enjoy the way the holes build from less to more challenging. Golf Monthly praises Leven for what it calls " One of the best stands of bents and fescues in Scotland."
