About the club

This links-style course in Llanelti on the Barry Inlet was built by Nicklaus Design under the guidance of Gary Nicklaus and opened in 2005. The design is unabashedly American, but it sits nicely on a lovely plot of land that is part of a residential real estate development. The ground is fairly level, lacking the dips and mounds associated with traditional links, but it is on the shore, and does seem to have been under the waves at some time in the past. Measuring over 6500 meters off the back, the layout has the length to allow strong players to make quite a few drives, provided they can navigate the plentiful water hazards throughout, but it also provides more modest players with less heroic paths. Events hosted by Machynys Clwb Golff have included four Ryder Cup Wales LET European Championships and two Royal & Ancient Championships.
