About the club
Located in the shadow of the ancient Harlech Castle on Tremadoc Bay, Royal St. David's (or Harlech, as it is nicknamed) offers breathtaking panoramas wherever you look. Those who play here regularly like to say that this is the most difficult par 69 on the planet, and they may well be right, especially when the stiff breezes blow in off the sea. Measuring only 6062 meters from the tips, it is not length but strategy that makes this layout so tough. The holes vary widely in orientation, and many balls enter the gorse rough never to return. There is a definite progression to the routing, from some fairly straightforward holes to a powerful closing stretch. The greens resemble those at St. Andrews in their size and readability, though the putting areas are single rather than double. The clubhouse matches the classic feel of the course, being homey and friendly.
