Seascale Golf Club
About the club
Located in the northwest of Britain not too far from Scotland, the Seascale is a true links course in a place where any kind of golf, let alone links, is rather unexpected. Apart from a power station, the site offers some nice vistas, of the Lake District in one direction and of the Irish Sea in the other. Willie Campbell found that the site reminded him of courses in his native Scotland and developed the course in 1893, and the contemporary layout holds true to his vision and maintains its old charm. Nine of the holes are threaded among the dunes, making excellent use of a modest sand ridge; the other nine are situated on more level ground back away from the beach. Among Seascale's challenges are bunkers, creeks, native vegetation and of course the wind. The club prides itself on maintaining quick greens and its historic clubhouse.
