Slaley Hall Hotel and Golf - Priestman Course
About the club
Dave Thomas, also know for the Belfry, crafted this course in the Eighties, and it is often regarded as his supreme effort. There were, to be sure, not many decent courses in the area when Slaley Hall opened. The Hunting is characterized by the usual flora of England's north country. The atmosphere is elegant from the entry gate to the clubhouse and beyond. Since the course hosts the PGA Seniors, it has ample length at 6481 meters, though various teeing positions accommodate more modest players. Another candidate for the title of Gleneagles of the South, a more accurate comparison would be the Woburn of the North. Except when the snow and ice make it impossible, maintenance is excellent. Among the natural touches are evergreen-lined fairways and beautiful flowers in the spring. With an attentive staff and top-notch practice areas, Slaley Hall is on of the top golfing experiences in northern Britain.
