It is known for its long, demanding par 4s that require accuracy off the tee and precision on approach shots. The New Course, also designed by Colt, offers a slightly more forgiving layout with wider fairways and less severe bunkering. Both courses at Sunningdale are 18 holes, providing ample opportunity for golfers to test their skills and enjoy an extensive round of golf. The length of the courses is challenging yet fair, with the Old Course measuring at 6,329 yards and the New Course at 6,308 yards from the back tees. One of the key features of Sunningdale is its beautiful heathland setting. The undulating terrain adds an extra layer of difficulty to the courses, requiring players to adapt their strategies accordingly. This picturesque landscape offers a serene and peaceful ambiance that enhances the overall golfing experience. As with any prestigious golf course, Sunningdale presents its fair share of challenges and hazards. The bunkering is strategically showcased throughout both courses, demanding precision and careful shot placement. The heather, while visually delightful, can devour errant shots and punish even the smallest amount of waywardness. Golfers should exercise caution and play with strategic patience to navigate these obstacles successfully.
