About the club

After an original nine was constructed at Tenby in the 1880s, James Braid was enlisted about twenty years later to create a full eighteen. The classic links routing proceeds through rugged natural dunes on a site on the edge of Carmarthen Bay along Tenby South Beach, where the scenery is beautiful and the wind is strong. On those rare days when it dies down, fun can be had here by any player, but only the accomplished players will be able to cope when the breezes blow in off the bay. During the dry months of June through August the layout is a true test of golfing fundamentals: low shots against the breeze, short landings and the bounce-and-run to the green. This being a classic layout, there are naturally some obscured shots and even some hog-back fairways, which play less wide than they appear and are set with punitive pot bunkers.
