The Berkshire Golf Club - Blue
About the club
Of the two courses at the Berkshire Golf Club, built nearly a century ago, the Blue is somewhat overshadowed by the Red, but is nevertheless a fine golf experience. To be sure, the Red is more attention grabbing with its profusion of par 3 and par 5 holes, but the Blue, with but a single true par 5, puts players to the test with some tough two shot holes. Indeed the Blue is less straightforward than its sister course, and thus the greater challenge for holding onto one's handicap; just because hazards are less imposing doesn't necessarily make them less hazardous. The challenge begins with the very first hole, a 217-yard par 3, and continues through a nicely balance blend of longer and shorter holes up to the 13th, after which a series of tough par 4 holes wind things up. The clubhouse isn't particularly attractive, though its noontime meal can't be beat.
