The Carrick on Loch Lomond Golf and Spa Resort
About the club
The Carrick course, opened in 2007, takes its name from its designer, Doug Carrick of Canada. The layout offers authentic Lowlands golf: the front nine are threaded on the shores of Loch Lomond, and the back nine ascend into the highland heather, where flat lies are hard to come by on the slanting fairways, but the panoramic vista of the forested islands in the Loch is unsurpassed, particularly on the trying par 5 15th. Water hazards abound, and are in play on such holes as the par 3 2nd, where water follows right up to the diminutive green along one side. The 450-yard, par 4 13th is the most challenging hole here, since it heads straight uphill. Measuring a full 6476 meters, the Carrick is a real workout, but one enlivened by amazing scenery. The Cameron House, a lodge from the 1700s, offers excellent accommodations on the shores of the Loch.
