About the club
Simon Edwards, Professional at Windermere Golf Club, is working once again with Special Olympian, Bobbie Wright and hopes to steer him towards success in the Special Olympics Golf Masters, to be held in Macau this April. 20 year old Bobbie, from Widnes, triumphed by 13 shots to win gold at the Special Olympics golf event in Los Angeles last July. He has already started retraining with Edwards in preparation for the Masters event, which brings together all the gold medalists from the Special Olympics, with one to be crowned the overall champion. “I received a call from Robert, Bobbie’s father around eighteen months ago asking for some help with his short game and was only too pleased to help. At that stage, I had no idea Bobbie’s goal was to compete at the Special Olympics.” says Edwards. “During our first meeting we talked about creating a world class short game as the easiest way to lower your stroke average and win more often and Bobbie really took this on board, working hard on his putting and chipping. A month later I was informed that Bobbie wanted to compete in the Special Olympics. We created a plan of action and Bobbie worked hard to implement it. Every golfer has the ability to perform under pressure if they have a plan and work hard.”
