Frederick Cobabe built up 8,000 acres of Wasatch Mountain land early in the 20th century. His son Alvin bought the land and turned it into a ski resort in 1972. The resort opened on February 19, 1972. The Hidden Lake lift started operating on New Year’s Day, 1975. In 2006 Dr. Cobabe sold Powder Mountain Inc. to Western American Holdings.
