About the club
Although he owned his own turboprop for over a decade, it wasn’t until the late 1990s that Tom Fazio agreed to work in the Pacific Northwest. Previously, it seemed just too far to travel for someone with six children at home. But former Seattle Supersonics basketball star Jack Sikma convinced Fazio to help his group build a golf-only, non-residential 18 on land east of Seattle. Perhaps it helped that the land had been previously owned by aviation pioneer Bill Boeing, land he had called the Aldarra Farm. Fazio’s design, called The Member’s Club at Aldarra until recent years, quickly became known for its last four holes, dubbed “The Gauntlet.” They consist of a long, stout par 3 (with an old stone farm silo near the green), a par 4 along wetlands, a reachable par 4 with stacked sod bunkers before the green and a long closing par 4 with two forced carries over ravines.

Manicured exclusive course - very tough grind with no easy holes. Greens don’t hold and are extremely tricky to putt and for approach shots. Impressive service. They focus only on golf and the course drains really well and playable during the winter similar to Chambers Bay. The Old Fashioned at the bar is the best! Maintenance is immaculate and was so impressed with the best tee boxes I’ve ever played on! The fairways were amazing conditions too. The pro shop was some very nice merchandise. They also have nice towels to use during the round. The golf carts are brand new and very comfortable. We were warned about certain rules as they tend to have the quirks that private clubs tend to. Found the green not too fast speed wise. Not too many water features involved. Some false fronts and lots of undulations on greens. I was able to putt from fringe. The guest greens fee for me on a weekday afternoon in October was less than $200 which is more than reasonable. The vibe of the place is like an old farm and charming. Pro v1 range balls. Course is definitely walkable although on the back 9 there are three holes they want you to take the electric cart to improve pace of play. The afternoons always seem chill because the hard core members all prefer to play early in the mornings. And it’s not rare to have pro athlete sightings. It is picturesque with deer and salmon sightings along with bears sometimes! And the walking path is nice but can be a bit narrow for carts. You can actually hear the local road and traffic from some of the holes.
