American Lake Veterans Golf Course
About the club
The American Lake Veterans Golf Course was opened in 1955, and has served as a sanctuary for war veterans. Managed entirely by volunteers, the course provides therapeutic rehabilitation through golf. In 1995, the course expanded from 9 to 12 holes with the help of local golfer Jack Frei. PGA Tour player Ken Still helped redesign the course in 2000, resulting in an expansion to a full 18-hole course. Due to preservation of its mission to provide a therapeutic environment for veterans, the American Lake Veterans Golf Course has not hosted any professional tournaments. Love the people and the place! Just started lessons and thoroughly enjoyed the instructor and his cohorts. Had three instructors right there discussing my grip, stance and swing among a lot of other general golf knowledge to assist me getting out to play. Driving range is covered and I drove a bucket of balls (mostly) downrange while it was sprinkling. The balls are purchased by the bucket (small, medium, large) at the inside counter and the recipe pin is used at the dispenser near the driving range. Nice setup all around. Love the supporting veterans that work and keep this place running. Plan to update this after I actually play a round!

I've been coming here over a decade & I am amazed of the beautiful people, golf course conditions & price. Absolutely hands down a perfect track for all levels. My thanks goes out to all the volunteers. Also Jack Nicholas designed the back nine and refurbished the front so that says a lot. Thank you American Lake, you saved my life literally ❤️
