I had to attend a wedding at Batello last weekend and decided it would be awesome if I can just stay on my boat since all the hotels in the area were sold out. Turned out to be the best idea I've had in a long time. Dockmaster Mike was so accommodating. Newport Marina was perfect for my overnight. The city views are incredible and the water was so calm overnight. My vessel is about 80' long and getting into the marina and docking was a breeze. I can't wait to go back to Newport Marina. Highly recommend!

This Jersey City Marina is extremely convenient and well maintained. They have everything you need and offer top-notch service. It is so well located next to all kinds of restaurants and other things you really couldn't ask for a more fun place to dock for a short or long period of time. The PATH train (special Subway to Manhattan & other parts of NJ) is right there if you want to take a 10-minute ride to Manhattan for a day or night out in Greenwich village Manhattan and then easily come back whenever you're ready day or night. This Marina and Yacht Club are highly recommended!

I spent a full week at Newport Marina last Spring while making my way along the Great Loop aboard my 41-foot trawler, and I can honestly say it was one of coolest stops of the entire journey. From the moment I radioed in, Mike the dockmaster went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I was single-handing, and he was there to catch lines, help me settle in, and check in regularly to make sure I had everything I needed. It's rare to find that level of care and attention anywhere--especially in a metro area like New York. The location itself is stunning. I had a front row view of the Manhattan skyline right from my slip, including awesome sunsets. Unlike many of the marinas across the river in Manhattan, Newport is quiet, calm, and protected. No constant ferry wakes, no nightclub noise, and no stress. I slept soundly every night, which is more than I can say for my previous stop on the Hudson. The neighborhood around the marina is also a big attraction. There's a waterfront walkway, great restaurants and grocery stores just a short walk away, and a park where I could stretch my legs. The PATH train station is literally next door, making it simple to hop into Manhattan for sightseeing. If you're doing the Great Loop and thinking of skipping New York because of the crowds or costs, don't. Newport Marina is a fantastic alternative that lets you enjoy all the magic of New York City. I am already planning my return. Highly recommend to any fellow Loopers or transient boaters looking for comfort, safety, and first-class hospitality. -- Laura S., M/V Willow

Calmest marina on the Hudson. Right across from a beautiful mall and steps away from the train to manhattan. Booked for a day and stayed for a week. Honestly can’t find a better location then Newport

We recently stayed at the Newport Jersey City Marina, and it was an outstanding experience. A very long and convenient floating face dock makes docking a breeze. Water pressure on the docks is excellent, and the marina offers reliable 50/100 Amp power pedestals, which is perfect for larger vessels. The views of the New York City skyline are nothing short of breathtaking, especially during the evening hours when the city lights up. It's incredibly convenient being within walking distance of essential stores like Home Depot and ShopRite, plus there are plenty of nearby restaurants, bars, and cafes (Starbucks is on the same block, as is Battello, a fantastic upscale Italian restaurant). If you're looking to head into the city, public transportation is also in walking distance, and it's just a quick 15-minute subway ride to downtown Manhattan, making it a great location for those wanting to experience NYC without the hassle. For transients, the marina is a fantastic spot to provision (ShopRite and Morton Williams Supermarket are both walking distance), and it's also well-suited for longer stays. The marina is well-protected, with little to no wake from the Hudson River. The marina is gated and keeps tourists off the docks. Mike the dockmaster is exceptionally helpful, always ready to assist with lines. The channel into the marina is well marked and documented. Overall, Newport Yacht Club & Marina is a top-notch choice for both short and long stays. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for dockage in the NYC/NJ area! Capt. Thomas, M/Y Moonlighter II.
