Fun time, good sailing, good people. Really good meatball sandwiches.

What a fantastic find on our leisurely drive through the beautiful "river town" of Riverton (see what I did there? 😉). Founded in 1865, the Riverton Yacht Club is the oldest such organization in New Jersey and on the Delaware River. As their narrative explains, they are "first and foremost a sailboat racing club," with over 175 members and various racing fleets specific to boat types and classes. We wandered our way through town to the river to park and eat some delicious "board walk" pizza (different review) and parked here at the yacht club. The pier is solid and purpose-built. And that club house is just something so special with all of her architectural elements and style flourishes. The gas lamp-style town street lights are also wonderful and add to the classic feel and vibe of Riverton, NJ. You can see the gorgeous Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in the distance, as well.

Along with some friends, I took the adult sailing course at RYC. It was an excellent experience. All of the staff were top notch and the equipment was in very good repair. I heartily recommend anyone interested in sailing use Riverton.
